Tell it to the Uranian Love Movement and the ten thousand artists throughout history, many of them devout Catholics, who have used Sebastian as an excuse to depict homoeroticism. Sexuality and faith are not mutually exclusive.
Prevailing opinion is that Sebastian did not exist (as a mortal man). The fact that he didn’t doesn’t make the purpose of asking St Sebastian to intercede with God on your behalf any less potent.

I always think of this image when I listen to Boy Cried Wolf. When I was a child, the image captivated me.
